Cupp Cave "Garbage Pail Beats" (2008)

I have described this "cupp cave" as similar to Flying Lotus, albeit much more abstract and glitchy. I had to show it to one of my good friends and after I played it to him he told me that; "damn, you listen to some weird music." I take that as a compliment.
"There’s something quixotic about Francis. His world is inhabited by improbable vegetarian Texan zombies on Mexican mushrooms, all thumbs and two left feet. They build those head-nodding toys for feet-shuffling kids. Terry Gilliam is their leader. He’s wearing those red & blue cardboard glasses we were told were 3d when we were kids. He’s hammered on cough syrup. He says he’s making a remake of A Fistful of Dollars. But he’s only got a Polaroid. Drink from my cup he says, with his regal tone, king-sized and street-wise - an easy task you might say when you can count your streets with both your hands - as he rolls them out, lazy beat by hazy bleep. I feel like Don King. I feel like chewing on a wafer. This colour’s not right. Everything’s plastic.
Cupp Cave is also known under Kingfisherg (Carte Postale Records)" -Last.fm

DJ Cheb I Sabbah "Krishna Lila" 2002

"With a DJ career spanning three decades, it would be difficult to find a more fascinating DJ than Cheb i Sabbah. Born in Algeria, a great source of his inspiration were his two uncles who were masters of the Malouf style, also known as Andalusian music. Cheb I describes himself as a 'hajji', a musical pilgrim of the spirit. His name is another reference to his pilgrimage: Cheb is a nickname used by Algerian rai singers; Sabbah means 'morning', but the link is actually to Hassan i Sabbah, the Persian mystic whose legendary library is rumoured to be the largest in the world." -Discogs
"Cheb i Sabbah (formerly known as DJ Cheb I Sabbah before 2005) grew up as Haim Sérge El Baaz, a Jew of Berber (Amazigh) descent in Constantine, Algeria. He moved to Paris in the 1960s, and, more or less by accident, became a DJ. His complex cultural background may have prompted him to mix musical styles. By the late 1980s, he was pushing boundaries on the dance floor, seeking ways to work African, Asian, and Arabic music into the mix. Then, as the world music movement unfolded, Cheb i Sabbah began recording traditional and classical musicians himself and used those tracks to create new works — effectively, music composed by a DJ.
Having completed four recordings, Sabbah recently returned to his native North Africa to gather the raw material for his most ambitious project to date, La Kahena, a set of eight pieces created from music by eight different acts, all featuring women singers.
He has been nominated recently by the BBC for the Awards for World Music 2006 in the “Club Global” category." - Last.fm

Some ambient to meditate to..
Biosphere "Dropsonde" (2006)
This album rests on the somewhat upbeat side of ambient music but has some variety throughout the album. One track,"In Triple Time," moves along with a jazzy drum pattern and dancing bass synthesizer. The first track, "Dissolving Clouds," relaxes you into the album with bell tones shimmering around. "Warmed by the Drift" reminds me of Stars of the Lid and transitions into "In Triple Time" really well.

Gas "Pop" (2000)
I was told this album was inspired by the artist's acid adventures in the Black Forest. The tracks incorporate natural samples like the sound of a stream or the sound of air blowing through pine trees. And as the album goes on, you can see how each track is derivative of the last, causing a subtle/subliminal shifting of the mood of the album. Great!

Signal Hill - "Signal Hill" [2007]

Signal Hill is an instrumental band from Los Angeles, CA. With influences such as The Mercury Program, Tristeza, My Bloody Valentine, Cinematic Orchestra and others, they play melodic, mid tempo, vocal-less ditties.
"It's affecting stuff and, like most of the music found here, is proof that Signal Hill have the raw talent to write some great material" - Kris Ilic - The silentballet.com
